Technical Requirements and Considerations for GT Scans App

Overview

This document will outline the technical requirements and considerations of using personal devices to download the Gramercy Tech Scans app versus using rental devices. 

Installation

• The app can be downloaded on the Apple App Store. 
• The app requires iOS 15 or higher and at least 20 MB of free space to install. 

Free Storage Requirements

To successfully download and run the app after installation, it should have a minimum of 250MB of free storage. This number depends on the total number of attendees and custom attendee fields. This number could increase with events that have more than 20,000 attendees and should be thoroughly tested by unique events.

Device and App Permissions

• Permission to install the app on the device
• Permission to use the device Camera is required for scanning

Security and Updates

• Offline mode requires local storage of data on the device

Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Personal Devices

The advantage of using personal devices is avoiding the costs of renting multiple devices. The disadvantages include potential increased costs associated with supporting multiple device types and attendee data on a personal device. 

The advantages of renting devices include consistent device types that meet all technical requirements, with the application installed and tested by the provider. After the event is completed, the application and attendee data can be deleted centrally.
